Hospitality mogul Sam Nazarian is in talks to open a large space in Manhattan's West Village "It's a big deal," a source told the Real Deal as it embarks on a global restaurant and hotel expansion. Today, plans were announced to build the first new hotel in New York City in more than 20 years, the second largest hotel in the world and the largest of its kind since the original Manhattan West Hotel, which was scheduled to open in 1999.
The 400-room Sofitel is being built on the site of the building, which is currently located at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Sixth Street in Manhattan's West Village. The proposed five-star hotel is part of a multi-million dollar mixed-use project in the heart of the city's East Village and the first of its kind in New York City.
